The extinction of Buddhism from India during the Turkish invasion led to the usual conclusion that Muslim persecution is the main cause of the disappearance of Buddhism in its homeland. Many even take as support a charge that traditional Islam is a religion of the sword that spread by the sword and was confirmed by the sword. To confirm this, they cite the Koran (Al-Qur'an):
"Scheduled fights for you, even if it is hateful unto you" (2:212)
"O Prophet, struggle against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh with them. Their abode is Hell, an end to ill-fated voyage. "(9:73)
"O Prophet, urge the believers to fight. If are among you twenty steadfast they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a hundred farms, they will vanquish a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they are a people without understanding. "(8:65)
"Verily, those who disbelieve Our revelations do we return to the fire. "(4:56)
"Fight then there should be no sedition, and religion in May entirely to God." (8:40)
"O you who believe! except that the idolaters are unclean, they should not come then the Sacred Mosque after this year. "(9:28)
"Fight those who believe not in God and the last day, and do not forbid what God and his apostle have forbidden, and who do not the religion of truth, among those to whom the Book was given until they pay tribute by their hands and be too small. "(9:29)
"O believers! Makes no friends of your fathers and your brothers if they love unbelief above faith: And whoever of you to his friends, will be unjust. "(9:23)
"He who fights for Allah and is killed or victorious receive a glorious reward. (4:74)
Muslim scholars, however, did not approve it. They say that the above quotes should not be here as to support the load. To do this, they point to at least two reasons. First, some of the above
citations relate only to first events during the life of Muhammad when he fought to establish religion, and does not apply to other cases. Secondly, in other quotations, fighting word or war is not to be construed as a physical struggle, but it means that the spiritual life.
Scholars Muslims also explain that the word Islam means peace "or" submission to the will of God ", and Muslim, an adherent of Islam, means" one dedicated to peace. Islam teaches tolerance and condemned religious persecution. They also cite the Koran:
"It There is no compulsion in religion. "(2:256)
"Defend yourself against your enemies, but not attack them first. Allah loveth not aggressors." (2:190)
"To you your religion and unto me my religion. "(109:6)
"So. If they take away from you and wage war not against you and give you peace. Alloweth Allah you a way against them. "(4:90)
"O you who believe! When you go to fight in the way of Allah, investigate. And do not tell you who to offereth the greeting of peace: 'You're not a believer. "(4:96)
The Turks invaded India and persecuted the Buddhists have done only by the desire for power and territorial expansion. They used religion to hide their crimes. True Muslims or those who know the spirit of Islam would not do that. Muslim scholars say the issue of Christian intolerance is greater than theirs. These are Christians who preached the Crusades and have used their faith as a tool for the expansion of colonialism. He also were Christians who were fighting among themselves on the Christian dogma, caused countless wars and religious persecution. Instead, Thailand, all Muslims have lived peacefully among Buddhist friendly throughout its history.1
The above explanation of Muslim scholars can be a great comfort to the world. The Turks who destroyed Buddhism while invading the Muslims in India were not true. True Muslims know the true spirit of Islam and to devote himself to the path of peace. We now hope that Muslims in the future will be true Muslims and the sad story terrible and will not be repeated.
