In Christianity, how it is that God can both love unconditionally and yet we also judge us?
I recently heard on the radio part of an interview with a Christian theologian in which this item was discussed. It seems contradictory to suggest that God love unconditionally and yet we could forever condemn. Tell me more about this so if someone could point me in the direction of some material Reading and / or tell me the name of this debate in the literature that would be great. Thank you.
If you refer to the teaching of torture eternal hell, I'd say it's an education that comes not from the Bible. Jeremiah 7:30-31 tells us what God thinks of people being burned, he never once thought. The teaching of hell fire torment comes from the ancient pagan religions and many make reference Bible in the running. The Bible assures us: "Far from true God to act wickedly, and the Almighty to act unjustly!"-Job 34:10. God is love himself and he is just (1 John 4:8, Daniel 4:37). His trial is given to those who willfully disobey him …. but because of his love, He is patient with us, he does not want everything to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance. "-2 Peter 3:9.
