Quoting the Bible in APA style?
I used the Bible, especially Genesis as a reference text in social science writing. How do I do in the text of the quote (is this correct (Genesis 9:25) and how do I put the Bible in the bibliography? Help pls?
Dear Laramt Thank you for your question. When you quote the Bible to the book, chapter and verse. The first time you cite the Bible to identify the version you use. If you use the same version for your other references, you do not need to identify the version every time. If you multiple versions of the Bible in a test, it is probably preferable to list the version every time. An example is: "You are merciful and good, O Lord, full of love to all those who call you "(Psalm 86:5, New International Version).] It suffices to quote the first three letters of the work cited in the Bible, except for the following books: Judges (JdG), Philippians (PHP) and Philemon (Phm). An example of this kind citation of 1 Cor. 13:1 (Revised Standard Version). The APA Publication Manual (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th ed., 2001, section 3100) says that you do not need to reference inputs to the Bible and other major classical works. When you quote Scripture, you do not need information on the facts of publication and you do not need a bibliographic record for the Bible. You do not need a bibliographic entry if you quote the editorial information from a study of the Bible.
